CONTENTMENT

CONTENTMENT by Pastor Funmi Uzoma

Wisdom is known to be the principal thing, but how we apply it tell a lot about us. The gift of contentment is paramount in our everyday life. It could make or mar anyone. Lucifer fell from heaven ’cause he aspired to be like the most high Isaiah 14: 12-14. Gehazi inherited Naaman’s leprosy for his greed and lies 2 kings 5: 20-26. No wonder when Agur in the book of proverbs was to make a request of the Lord he asked two vital things.

Proverbs 30:7-9 NLT
O God, I beg two favors from you; let me have them before I die. First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord ?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name. A necessary gift indeed ( gift of contentment). Also Apostle Paul admonishes his beloved son in the Lord with the following words 1Timothy 6:6-10 NLT
Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
